Mihfra

A short-handled hoe-like digging tool used to break up and turn the earth at the borrow pit and to mix the prepared pisé batch with water and straw. Pisé construction is traditionally a paired-team operation in which two or three hands prepare and feed mix at the borrow pit while one or two ramming hands work in the formwork; the mihfra is the basic tool of the preparation team.
